“ગીતાંજલિ”માંથી

ગુરૂદેવ રવીન્દ્રનાથ ટાગોર નોબેલ પ્રાઈઝ મેળવનાર પ્રથમ ભારતીય હતા.
અમર કૃતિ “ગીતાંજલિ” માટે 1913માં કવિવર ટાગોરને નોબેલ પ્રાઈઝ એનાયત થયું હતું.

મારા ઘણા વિદ્યાર્થીઓએ-પરિચિતોએ ગુરૂદેવ ટાગોરની “ગીતાંજલિ” વાંચી જ નથી. “ગીતાંજલિ”ની એક ઝલક પણ તેમના હૃદયમાં એક ચમકારો કરી જશે!

નીચેની સુંદર પંક્તિઓ ગુરૂદેવ ટાગોરની અમર કૃતિ “ગીતાંજલિ”માંથી લીધેલ છે:

The song that I came to sing remains unsung to this day.

I have spent my days in stringing and unstringing my instrument.
……….

I have not seen his face, nor have I listened to his voice; I have heard his gentle footsteps from the road before my house.

The livelong day has passed in spreading his seat on the floor; but the lamp has not been lit and I can not ask him into my house.

I live in the hope of meeting with him; but this meeting is not yet.
